Have fun all the way from A to Z with an Alphabet Party! Here’s some advice and tips for holding a party that your guests will surely love.
Invitations
Make invitations by cutting colourful sheets of paper into different letters or the letter that you’ve chosen as the theme of your party.
Use the Sesame Street motto by suggesting that this party “was brought to you by the letter A” for example.
Costume Suggestions
Have guests pick a letter and come dressed as something beginning with that letter. You could nominate letters with each invitation, challenging the guest to find a costume for the letter picked for them.
Another great costume idea is to pick out one single letter and have the guests dress up as anything beginning with that letter. You’ll be surprised at the ideas that many people will come up with.
P, for example, can include many costumes such as Peter Pan, Pirates, Pigs, Pimpernels, Priests, and more…
Decorations
Use a texta or marker to write letters on balloons, and hang them from the walls and ceilings.
Write the letters on the balloons before blowing them up to avoid popping them. Try to make the letters as decorative as you can by adding swirls to each letter.
Food Suggestions
Serve a huge feast that features food beginning with each and every letter of the alphabet.
If some foods are hard to find you can improvise by serving hamburgers and steak and labelling it as Zebra.
Make a large cake shaped in the letter of choice.
If you’ve picked a particular letter for the party, try and serve as much food as you can that begins with this letter.
Games & Activities
A to Z Treasure Hunt:
Try and make sure there’s an item beginning with each letter, hidden throughout the house and the yard. You could hide some in fun places, and others can be cheekily hidden in plain sight.
Give each guest a pen and some paper and have the guests race around trying to find something for each letter. A fun trick would be to use your own name as one of the items, just to keep them guessing!
It will be more fun if you set a time limit and see who can beat the clock.
Offer prizes for whoever can find the most items.
