Yellow Ladybugs helps girls with high functioning autism and aspergers connect, make friends and socialise.
Imagine not being invited on a playdate. Imagine missing out on invitations to birthday parties. Imagine being so lonely at lunchtime that you hide in the toilet. Imagine not having any friends. Unfortunately this is the reality some girls face, especially those already navigating the complexities that come with Autism.
That is why we created Yellow Ladybugs.
Yellow Ladybugs is a parent run friendship group for young girls with Autism. We hope to create social events, similar to birthday parties, where girls can come together and have the opportunity to meet and bond over their similar journey. Our vision is to foster a strong bond, which will ultimately create a network of friends outside of school.
To give the best opportunity for our friendship groups to thrive, we are bringing together girls who share similar traits, age and location.
We will be launching our first friendship group, for young girls between the ages of 5 and 8 years old, who have been diagnosed with High Functioning Autism (Aspergers) and who attend a mainstream primary school (or home schooling) in Melbourne. This is a volunteer program, and we have limited time and resources. If you would like to personally volunteer to setup another group, catering to a different area or age group, please contact us.
